Casual dining in Stowe, VT that shouldn't be missed - Stowe "Locals" and visitors choose Harrison's for terrific food and superior service in a warm, cozy setting.
I was watching an interesting travel and dining segment on ABC's "Good Morning America" that offered a new spin on local dining. Travel author and food enthusiast, Anthony Bourdain, was promoting his new Travel Channel show called "The Layover" where he admonishes viewers to checkout local food stops when they are traveling (and experiencing layovers). From food trucks in New York City to locally owned BBQ and burger joints, Bourdain says that locals really know where to dine and travelers should get out there and check out those local recommendations.

That's a perfect lead to this week's Stowe Meadows Stowetopia™ Guide To Stowe, VT post. Let us introduce you to a "locals" (and a personal) favorite in Stowe, VT: Harrison's Restaurant and Bar located smack dab in the middle of Stowe Village at 25 Main Street, Stowe VT, 802.253.7773.
A great ending to a day of exploring Stowe, VT: Whether skiing on Mt. Mansfield, browsing the Stowe Village shops (see our recommendation for Stowe Craft Gallery), or taking a stroll on the Stowe Recreation Path, end your day with a terrific dinner at family-owned and operated Harrison's Restaurant and Bar.
Location, Location, Location - Harrison's isn't a "look in the windows" restaurant like others that may promise terrific dining from the outside, but don't deliver on the inside. Harrison's is an amazing find that is tucked away on the basement level of the old Carlson Building. You have to know what you're looking for to find this hidden gem, and boy do they deliver! We're talking a warm, cozy, brick and stone interior in a late 19th century classic Stowe Village building that makes you feel warm and welcomed from the time you open the door.
From classic "pub" style favorites to upscale classics, Harrison's consistently delivers great food and superior service. Owner Kathy Kneale with her son Andrew, have created something very special in Stowe. Wanna really get to know Stowe? We also highly recommend a seat at the bar to mingle with locals. You're sure to have a great conversation to go along with your delicious dinner. As Stowe "locals", we enjoy dining at Harrison's and all of the Stowe Meadows customers we've encouraged to try this Main Street eatery also pass along rave reviews.

The menu and nightly specials tend to reflect the current season. Make a mental note to put the Lobster Mac & Cheese on your list to try....along with homemade Keylime Pie. Owner Kathy Kneale's specialty, dozens of Stowe Meadows guests returned from dinner this year raving about these two classics with a twist.
Call ahead for a table or sit at the bar which is filled on a first-come basis. You can also book a Harrison's reservation on OpenTable! Either way, you can't go wrong. No tables and a long wait? We hear this happens, especially on weekends. Our best advise? Try another night or maybe check out The Blue Moon Cafe at 35 School Street, a short 2 blocks from Harrison's. We'll post a review of The Blue Moon here on Stowetopia.
Stowe Meadows Lodge highly recommends Harrison's Restaurant & Bar in Stowe VT, one of the best local dining spots...and owned by a terrific local family! Check it out.....
Cheers!
